*JOY*
It’s the one word that summarizes this photo.
Alex has the best baby giggles. He’s always laughing. He loves babbling and talking to us. Each day is started on a positive note after that little face smiles up at me and takes hold of my heart.
Alex is a fighter. He has been through more than most little boys, but he is still such a happy baby. We can all learn from him…that no matter how bad it may seem, there’s always a little light shining through, always something to remain positive about…always a reason to smile.
My heart feels so full sometimes it may burst.
Life’s funny, isn’t it? Those times that challenge us, that really move us and shake us, teach us. They teach us life isn’t always fair, but we have to believe in Him. That no matter how much we might try to control an outcome, God may have a different plan. And it’s our job to trust…to believe He has us in the palm of His hand. And even though we may not have all the answers or understand why something is not going according to our plan, that it’s not about us at the end of the day anyway. God is shaping us to do a greater good, to carry out His plan, possibly something bigger and even better than we could ever imagine.
Most of all, thank you, Alex, for making me a mommy. For teaching me about true strength, for overcoming so many obstacles and being our beacon of hope. For continuing to show your Daddy and me that faith CAN triumph and miracles DO happen.
I heard the song below at the end of my pregnancy. After so many years of trying to conceive, this song still brings me to tears. But this time, they are happy tears. I am finally celebrating Mother’s Day joyful, renewed, and full of hope.
I’m so glad I get to be the one. The one who will be here for you, through every single day of your future, who will lift you up when you fall and be your unwavering support.
This Mother’s Day, I want to thank everyone who has been a mother to us through the last few months of our journey. We’ve seen God’s work in motion, and each of you have nurtured us and brought us back to life.
I love you completely.
“I Get To Be The One” by JJ Heller
“Well hello,
Little baby.
Your eyes have never seen the sun
You should know
Little baby
That I am the lucky one
I get to be the one to hold your hand
I get to be the one.
Through birthdays and broken bones
I’ll be there to watch you grow
I get to be the one.
Don’t feel alone now,
Little baby.
Do you hear me singing you a song
I can’t wait to show you
Little baby
How to crawl
How to walk
And how to run
I get to be the one to hold your hand
I get to be the one.
Through birthdays and broken bones
I’ll be there to watch you grow
I get to be the one.
How does someone so small
Hold my heart so tightly
I don’t even know you
I love you completely…”
